THE MONTESSORI METHOD

Learning comes
from doing.

Montessori education recognises that children are naturally curious and capable. Through hands-on work, meaningful choices, and time to concentrate, children develop understanding at their own pace.

The teacher observes each child’s interests and readiness, introducing materials that offer just the right challenge. Repetition and discovery help children build independence, confidence, and a lasting love of learning.

THOUGHTFUL GUIDANCE

The role of the directress

The Montessori directress is a careful observer and guide. She demonstrates how to use materials, supports respectful relationships, and helps each child find purposeful work. Her guidance creates space for children to practise, make discoveries, and experience the satisfaction of doing things for themselves.

A PLACE FOR DISCOVERY

The prepared environment

An orderly, welcoming classroom places child-sized furnishings and purposeful materials within reach. Each activity has a place and a purpose. Children can choose work, move thoughtfully, care for their surroundings, and develop concentration in an environment designed for their growth.

THE WHOLE CHILD

Skills that grow with them

Independence

Children learn to choose purposeful work, care for themselves and their surroundings, and solve problems with growing confidence.

Beautiful, purposeful materials invite children to explore ideas through movement, touch, repetition, and discovery.

A close-knit school community gives children a sense of belonging and opportunities to practise cooperation and care.
